Less than one fourth mile from Belanger Creek, this pretty, rolling parcel helps to protect open space near Suttons Bay. This preserve was gifted to the Conservancy by Mrs. Connie Whittlesey, who wanted to share her love of this land with future Suttons Bay area residents. Her 1991 donation is near other Conservancy properties protecting the wetlands along Belanger Creek. Whittlesey’s uplands are dominated by hardwood forests. Rolling hills provide spectacular views of Grand Traverse Bay. In the lowlands live wetland-dependent birds and uncommon fern species, such as interrupted, maindenhair and rattlesnake fern.
