I know that locals consider these things a nuisance but since we don't have them down south in Holland we find them interesting…and maybe just a little bit of a nuisance. They are just one more of the memories of Leelanau County.

Winter in our area is magical for me. I just have to look out my windows and life is all around us. These four coyotes found a frozen deer carcass under the ice, and they played and chased crows, sometimes laying down in the snow, while patiently waiting as one life sustained another. An eagle came by to check things out, but also waited, until the coyotes were gone. Today the crows and gulls complete the cycle in the winter sun.
