North Manitou's lilacs and butterflies

On my last backpack trip to North Manitou in late June the lilacs and flowering trees were still blooming with butterflies everywhere. It is such a beautiful place….really God's country!

Nine Jacks-in-one!

Jack-in-the-pulpit is a curious looking wildflower, which loves the spring shade and likes damp feet.  We have a champion growing naturally every year right outside our front door, in the midst of a very healthy pachysandra bed.
