I love Leelanau because it is one of the most beautiful places in the world - as an infant I camped at Old Settler's picnic grounds, 45 years ago - a place where my parents, grandparents and great grandparents gathered for family picnics. (Picture taken in Burdickville last fall.)

With their rows of colorful fruit piled into green pressed paper quart boxes, Leelanau’s farm markets can be as artistic as the windows of a French patisserie.  And it doesn’t get any more local than this—buying produce from a stand on the property where the food was grown.
