I have taken over 10,000 pictures of the area over the last 5 years and love it more and more when I am on vacation in Empire, Glen Arbor and surrounding areas to see my in-laws. This sunset photo was taken from Empire Beach, Summer 2009

Good Harbor Bay's scenic beauty

By Leelanau Conservancy at 9:18 am on Friday, November 6, 2009

I decided to go bow hunting on the evening of 10/7/09.  I drove to Good Harbor.  I arrived at my deer blind at 4:15 pm.  At 6:00 pm I saw three antlerless deer walk within 50 yards of my blind.  While sitting in my deer blind I can hear the waves of Good Harbor off in the distance.  At 7:30 pm it was too dark hunt.  I packed up and walked out of the woods.  When I finally made my way out of the woods this picture captures what I saw.  When I finally made it back to my car the sunset was gone.

Leelanau's fall colors and tastes

By Leelanau Conservancy at 9:14 am on Friday, November 6, 2009

With their rows of colorful fruit piled into green pressed paper quart boxes, Leelanau’s farm markets can be as artistic as the windows of a French patisserie.  And it doesn’t get any more local than this—buying produce from a stand on the property where the food was grown.
