I decided to submit a photo to Why Leelanau even though my dad works on it!

Why Leelanau? Leelanau means happy times with friends and family, in a magical place that we happily know will be protected forever! I love Leelanau!

This is a beautiful winter sunset taken last February. As we head into colder weather, I thought I'd just remind everyone of the beautiful parts of winter!

What's around the next corner?

Thought I'd send in this photo after seeing my Facebook newsfeed update on fall photos for "Why Leelanau". So…"Why Leelanau? Because you never know what you might see around the next corner! Like this fox that plucked a salmon out of the stream next to Barb's Bakery in downtown Northport and proceeded to have lunch on the lawn. He was amazing! Yet another reason to preserve the natural quality and beauty of Leelanau."

We drove to Northport last weekend to enjoy the view on Braman Hill and were surprised to see this little guy downtown. The salmon was as big as him!

The Sleeping Bear

By Leelanau Conservancy at 8:12 pm on Monday, October 26, 2009

Attached is my photo of Sleeping Bear!  This picture was taken in summer 2007 from the woods on the Empire Bluffs trail.

I love Leelanau County because of Sleeping Bear.  I have Anishinaabe/Ojibwe heritage so the lore and legend of Sleeping Bear is part of my culture!

Why to live here

By Leelanau Conservancy at 8:07 pm on Monday, October 26, 2009

When I'm in Leelanau I can be driving home from somewhere else and unexpectedly come upon a scene like this one.  To be surrounded by this kind of beauty will be the main factor in deciding to live here permanently.
