I came across this the other day, and thought I'd share it. It was shot from my kitchen window! This guy casually walked down the path after a while, stood looking out at the lake, yawned and wagged his stub of a tail, then quietly moved off down the hill. He was back a couple days later, staring at me from the driveway in the front of the house. I swear he was looking at me both times!

Every time I return from a trip to San Francisco to visit my daughters, I wonder why I left Leelanau. As I come down the hill on Horn Road and look out over the islands, I am filled with awe at the beauty and peacefulness of the scene.
We all must work to keep it that way.

One of the many things we look forward to in Leelanau are the spring flowers. About this time each year my wife and I pick up the "In Bloom" flower list from the Park Headquarters and hike the Empire Bluff trail. The flowers are great this year! Do you know your flowers? Can you tell a Dutchman's breeches from a Squirrel-corn flower? Having them growing side-by-side (and a flower book in hand) made our hike this year very satisfying.
