Even in the transitional and often dreary month of March, Leelanau rewards the sight-seer/photographer with unexpected sights, earning the nickname "Land of Delight".

Sleeping Bear Point in winter dress

Here's a shot from one of our photographing hikes up on top of Sleeping Bear Point this winter. I'm working on a series of winter paintings from the last hike. It’s even more breath-taking up there in winter.

Rich beauty everywhere I look

By Leelanau Conservancy at 9:00 am on Thursday, March 20, 2008

I love Leelanau because of its rich beauty everywhere I look. I live in a suburb of Chicago and so I never get the chance to see rolling hills going off into the distance or a little barn by the side of the road. When we make our trip up to our little house in Leelanau, I know that no matter the weather, there will be beauty everywhere we look.
