This photo was taken while enjoying the "Flight over Leelanau" auction item that I bid on and won at the 2006 Leelanau Conservancy picnic. John Herrold of Cedar graciously hosted my 87-year-old father and I in his Cessna 172 to view the fall colors. My Dad, a former WWII Navy pilot, still talks about taking off from John's private airfield and being briefed on how to "avoid" any deer coming on the runway. That's what we like about Leelanau and what the Conservancy does.
