When you visit a Conservancy Natural Area, you might not think of all that has happened to make your hike enjoyable and safe. There is a lot that goes in to creating and maintaining trails, information kiosks, viewing platforms and access areas. In addition, we have a duty to restore, protect and maintain lands for the enjoyment of future generations. Some lands are threatened by invasive species and we need to take steps necessary to protect these sensitive areas. In addition, when we acquire land or protect it via conservation easement, we have a duty to monitor all of these lands annually to make sure that our management plans and landowner agreements are adhered to. Our Stewardship Director, Jenee Rowe, and her Volunteer Stewardship Network work hard to accomplish all of these tasks and more that are essential to keeping our Natural Areas beautiful and pristine.
